Core Stick Tape®Made in Japan

The Core Stick Tape® lineup offers double-sided adhesive tapes specially designed as core starting tapes, which are used for cores of rolled products. The ultra-thin core starting tapes with a thickness of 15 µm are effective in reducing defects caused by indentation marks.

Core Stick Tape

The lineup meets the following needs.

We want to reduce indentation marks generated in the film manufacturing process. It is difficult to reattach core starting tapes.
We are looking for effective measures that contribute to the SDGs. We need a core starting tape which has a track record in the industry.

Features of Core Stick Tape®

  • 1. Achieving cost reduction by reducing indentation marks
  • 2. Improving work efficiency
  • 3. Reducing environmental impact and contributing to the SDGs

1. Achieving cost reduction by reducing indentation marks

Mechanism by which indentation marks are generated

At the start of winding, a level difference is created by adhesive tapes, whose thickness is added to the thickness of a film.
This level difference generates indentation marks on the second and later layers of the film.

An indentation mark is generated. Indentation marks A film is wrapped onto adhesive tapes, generating indentation marks at intervals corresponding to the circumference length.

Cost reduction effect

Loss reduction length/roll × Number of rolls processed per year = Loss reduction length of the product per year
(Loss reduction length/roll × Product cost/m) − (Length of the tape used/roll × Price difference/m after changing the tape) = Cost reduction amount per roll of the product
Cost reduction amount per roll of the product × Number of rolls processed per year = Cost reduction amount of the product per year

CHECK!

Effect after introducing Core Stick Tape®

Loss reduction volume 360,000 m/year
Cost reduction amount ¥5,184,000/year
Waste plastics reduction volume About 7.5 t/year
CO2 reduction effect About 23 t/year

[Effect calculation formula]

Loss reduction length/roll × Number of rolls processed per year = Loss reduction length of the product per year
30 m × 12,000 rolls = 360,000 m

(Loss reduction length/roll × Product cost/m) − (Length of tape used/roll × Price difference/m after changing the tape) = Cost reduction amount per roll of the product
(30 m × @20/m) − (8 m × @21/m) = @432/roll

Cost reduction amount per roll of the product × Number of rolls processed per year = Cost reduction amount of the product per year
@432/roll × 12,000 rolls = 5,184,000 yen

2. Improving work efficiency

Visibility required to prevent careless mistakes

The striped printing ensures visibility, facilitating alignment and preventing failure to attach the tape.

Hand cutability which ensures workers’ safety and increases efficiency

The tape can be torn by hand without using a cutter or scissors. This helps reduce the risk of industrial accidents and enables quick attachment.

High adhesive strength with low tack

The tapes firmly stick to various types of films and reduce the changeover error during winding.
The tapes also ensure ease of reattachment to various types of cores.

No need to wipe off cores using solvents

Core Stick Tape® is characterized by minimal adhesive residue, eliminating the need to wipe off cores using solvents after use. This helps mitigate health hazards and extend the service life of cores.

3. Reducing environmental impact and contributing to the SDGs

Reduction of the core loss of processed plastic products helps reduce waste plastics generated at manufacturing sites.
Polyethylene and polypropylene, which are typical plastic materials, theoretically generate 3.1 kg of CO2 per kg when burned. In one example, reduction of loss by introducing Core Stick Tape® led to reduction of waste plastics by 7.5 t/year and CO2 equivalent emissions by about 23 t/year per manufacturing site.
In recent years, global initiatives are underway to review the consumption and disposal volume of plastics to realize a sustainable society and conserve the global environment.
Plastic-related manufacturing companies also face the issue of how to contribute to such initiatives.
The Core Stick Tape® lineup offers core starting tapes which help address this environmental issue with substantial results.
