The Splice Assist Seal prevents unwinding of the next web in a dual-shaft turret splicing machine of a roll-to-roll coating system. Attaching the seal to the leading edge of a web prevents unwinding and ensures reliable splicing.
The lineup meets the following needs.
We want to make sure to prevent unwinding during splicing. | We want to reduce the preparation time for the next web and standardize the work. |
We want to know anti-unwinding measures with minimal contamination by foreign matter. |

Features of the Splice Assist Seal
- 1. Reliable prevention of unwinding
Attaching the seal to the leading edge of a web reliably prevents unwinding and splicing failures.
- 2. Significant improvement in work efficiency
Previously, general-purpose adhesive tapes were used to implement complicated anti-unwinding measures. The seal enables any user to easily implement the measures only by attaching the seal, making it possible to reduce the work time and standardize the work.
- 3. A dependable design with minimal contamination
The design minimizes the risk of detachment or adhesion to the guide roll, eliminating concerns about contaminating products as foreign matter.

Almost eliminating failures in high-speed splicing by standardizing the anti-unwinding measures We received a request from a customer to enable web changeovers with minimal speed reduction to maintain productivity during gravure coating. Previously, the customer cut commercially available adhesive tapes and attached them to the leading edge of a web to prevent unwinding. However, this method was not standardized and was subject to personal differences depending on experience. Unwinding of a web occurred in some cases, posing the risk of splicing failures. We proposed using the Splice Assist Seal and received positive feedback that the product reduced differences in work performed by respective workers and eliminated splicing failures. |
